The Edmarc Project
A message from Barbara Byrd, (CommIT) the VP – soon to be President, of the Virginia Beach Retired Employees Association.
Judy Cannon (Finance) arrived at 7:30 am. We were all early birds that day. Judy, Jim and I delivered the turkeys and boxes of goodies to Edmarc.
It was nice to meet the Executive Director of Edmarc Debbie Stitzer-Brame who was truly astonished at what was donated.
There was enough food stuffs donated to feed three families for Thanksgiving and three families for Christmas. Between the PSDT and the VBREA an amount of $800 was raised to purchase frozen and dairy products for both holiday meals along with gift cards for items on the family’s wish lists.
Thank each and every one of you for your generosity.

Dear Barbara & Members,
On behalf of the families, staff, board of directors and most importantly the children of Edmarc Hospice for Children, thank you for your generous donation during this Thanksgiving holiday season.
There are many factors that impact the lives of our families when a child is ill. Many of us take for granted the ability to go out and shop, during the crowds and chaos. For our families it is a relief to not have to deal with that during the time of their child’s illness. It allows them to stay home and provide care, love and support to their families. In addition, with your help, our families were relieved from the stress and expenses that accompany the holiday season.
It takes a huge community effort to provide Thanksgiving for all of our families. Thanks to your contribution, meals were provided for all of our families this year! The staff and board of directors could not have done it without this wonderful effort put forth by the community.
As you know, the purpose of Edmarc Hospice for Children is to provide support to families of children with life threatening illnesses so that the child can remain comfortable and the family can remain intact during and after a child’s illness. Our goal is to help the family keep the child at home for as long and as much as possible, preventing unnecessary hospitalization and minimizing the long term disabling effects of parental and sibling bereavement.
Thank you for helping Edmarc to accomplish its mission! I hope all of you and your families have a wonderful holiday season! Thank you for all you do!
Warmest Regards,
Debbie Stitzer-Brame
Executive Director
